Ali Clements is the Economy and Sport Growth Manager for Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport. The role emerged from the Leicester & Leicestershire Sport & Physical Activity Sector Growth Plan of 2016 and focuses on the growing and developing the sporting economy across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
This was a new role for LRS who are based at SportPark on the Loughborough University Campus. The role spans across all areas of the sports sector which contribute to the economy locally, from business support, skills and career pathways to tourism, events and wellbeing at work.
The majority of Ali’s career has been within the sport, health and physical activity sector. Working in public, private and voluntary sectors, from coaching, Personal Training and Sports Development work to managing healthy weight programmes for children and families in Leicester and Suffolk, plus managing an integrated healthy lifestyle service in Suffolk.
She believes her experiences from within the sector and building working relationships over the years with a range of partners, inform her broad view of the sector which supports the role she has. Ali is also pleased to be part of the Active Partnerships National Development Group, the local Tourism Advisory Board, local Systems Leadership work and the LGA Leadership Programme.
